Yes, it is caused by the interface card you are using not being 100%
compatible with the Creative Labs Panasonic interface hardware.

The solution is to download the latest driver and/or kernel from 
freebsd.cdrom.com.  Look in the 2.1-STABLE or at one of the SNAP releases
dated 072x or later.   You will still have to specify the correct address
if it isn't 0x230, 0x240, 0x250 or 0x260, but other than that it will
probably work.   The new driver works on all Creative Labs, plus cards from
IBM, LaserMate, Reveal, Media Vision and Diamond.
