We have a problem with a Quantum 4 gig hard drive working neither
with a PCI nor an EISA FreeBSD-2.0.5-R system (AHA2940, AHA2740).

The systems log the following error(s) after some hours/days
of operation (sample log from EISA system):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/var/log/panic:Sep 17 05:02:50 lena /kernel: sd1(ahc1:1:0): Deferred Error: HARDWARE FAILURE asc:3,96 sks:80,0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure, but wasn't there a thread about the Quantum Grand Prix
drives and certain Adaptec controllers not going well together?

Could anybody confirm?

If so - is there a patch/workaround? Or should I replace the hard drive
(with what?)?
