Other than windows95 I have not seen an operating system that supports modems 
either internal or external, A modem is a typicaly serial device which is
pluged into a serial port and an internal modem just has a single serial port
built into itsef..

An internal modem should create a standard comm port for itself and can be set
to com port 1-4 and uisaly irq 2,3,5 and somtimes 7..
