Well folks is up to you .It is already hard to maintain backwards compatibility
for the native apps so depending on an emulator is even a more difficult task.
As for the end user, you have to keep up with the Linux static shared libraries
something I am not very fond of. Well okay some of you like doing that sort
of things which is fine with me.

The reason that there are linux commercial apps is because the end users
*demanded*, *pestered*, *asked* the ISV in great numbers. This is a
reflection of the end users co-operating to provide greater coverage for
their OS.

Amancio: Is there a FreeBSD version of your package?

Vendor: Well you know you are the only one so far who has asked for a
FreeBSD version of our package. We have received several
	requests for linux apps.

Amancio: Would you mind keeping track of the FreeBSD requests?

Vendor: Sure, no problem if I get X numbers of requests I will consider
        doing a port to FreeBSD.

Is just that simple folks!!! Now that does not take a long time to do
and in some cases the ISV's have an e-mail which makes the overall
request even simpler to accomplish.

                  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
To gain more support for FreeBSD . One thing is the ability to run apps
from OS X;however, in the PC arena there are a class of applications which
depend on hardware. For example, Xings's streamworks it has a driver for
the IBM mpeg 2 encoder/decoder board --- Would you like to emulate that??
Or would you find it easier for the vendor to write the driver and provide
native support for it?

A different topic:

Slugging it out in comp.sys.intel, I mentioned how wonderful ftp.freebsd.org
is . A *linux* advocate responded: "Must admit that ftp.freebsd.org looks very
interesting however it needs more marketing"

Folks is *really* up to you !
