Oh, maybe I missed this but WTH.  Which drive is it?  It does matter.

And WRT to the 2940/53c810 interoperability issue, I've just gone through
a half dozen make worlds each on a problematic drive, the 4.3 Quantum Grand
Prix, and if the NCR survives the boot it handles the drive nearly identically
to the 2940. Performance wise, that is.
