What I want to know is if anybody has got the Connectix Quickcam to work on
a PC running Unix (pref. BSD). It's a <$100 camera that uses the parallel port.

I've been looking at the Connectix QuickCam for such purposes, it is a
fixed-focus (18 inches - infinity) grayscale camera that can be found at
around $99. But their FAQ says:

Q: Will QuickCam work with Windows NT?

A: Not at this time. We are exploring making the camera compatible with
	   NT in a later version.

So far it's only available as a Mac (serial) and Windows 3.1 (parallel) version.
The Macintosh incarnation includes sound support, all in one serial stream...
