Hi!

When using the ft program to drive my Conner Floppy tape I consistently run
into a problem (using the same tape) that I see a message on the console:

ft0: unrecoverable write error on block 3200

After this the tape just goes backwards and forth over the same spot on the
tape. Even if I kill the ft process I cannot get the tape drive to stop
working. The only way I have been able to stop this is by rebooting.

My questions are:-

(1) Why does the tape go back and forth?
(2) How can I kill the ft process so that it releases the tape?

Regards, Mark
