|Two days, no answer )-: The machine is NEC Express II/P90ILT,
|the 1 gig Digital SCSI drive is attached with SCSI id 0 and is
|well recognised by BIOS, by DOS and Windows (3.11 and NT).
|FreeBSD says "no disks found" )-: Thanks for any hint!

What helped was to connect the hard drive from channel B to channel A
of the ahc1 (SCSI-2). Do not know if this affects perfomance in any way --
when copying from the CD to disk, but it helped!
