This still exists in SunOS:
...The program fails on a ioctl inquiry cycle and returns
"Error code 25 (not a typewriter)" 

But whatever happened to "can't grok..."?

Also found a small commentary on how someone at Sun felt about what they
were being "persuaded" to do with SunOS:
