To all those who responded to my modem problem, I thank you.
It works now (modified the /etc/ttys so that the device type was
'dialup off local' and wala!) but as a consequence I have a new problem.

I have 5 machines on a small local network. ONe of them is a
unix box with a modem that connects to my ISP via ppp. I run
'routed -s' on the unix box and 'routed -q' on my other machines.
The unix box can see the entire 'net just fine, none of my clients
however, can see anything past the immediate area of the remote
ppp machine of my ISP. All clients are set to have default routes
to the unix box which I thought was sufficient. Seems this is not
so. Can someone tell me what I need to do to help my clients see
the entire 'net on the other side of the ppp connection?

thanks very much.
