I am having trouble running dial-in PPP. First, I am NOT using routed or
gated, do I HAVE to run one of them? I do have ppp configured in the
kernel, the pppuser has a shell of /usr/bin/ppp. /etc/ppp.sys has this
configuration:

Pdialin:\
	:dv=/dev/tty:\
	:cm=:\
	:id#0:\
	:ld=/netscripts/ppp.down:\
	:lu=/netscripts/ppp.up:\
	:if=inet <local ip> <remote ip> <netmask>

I have also used the exact ppp.sys.sample configs(with the correct ip).

My modems are set for 8 bit clear, hardware flow control mode.
Both my gettytab and , ttys, and rc.local files are correct for this setup.
My problem is, the arp entry is never written to the routing table! Is
this because of the fact that I am NOT running gated? Why would I need to
run gated if the ppp.up files has an PROXY arp entry? Also, will a chmod
of 555 work for the /etc/netscripts?
If anyone can help, PLEASE do so, Ive been working on this for weeks!
