I would use the nntp port available in the ports directory. I compiled and
installed it with little effort, though I had to touch a couple of things. I
sent the changes to the ports mailing list, but I don't think they are updated
yet.

The only problem I have (probably due to a lack of knowledge) is that
when a user connects to the server, it outputs the following line to the
syslog daemon:

list: fopen /usr/local/lib/news/subscriptions: no such file or directory

However, it works fine, so that must be some secondary file whose purpose
is unknown to me (I didn't find it in any docs).

Of course, all C-News control files are in /usr/local/lib/news.

If anybody knows what that is, please tell me so that I polish nntpd
installation :-)
