try ([t]csh or bash syntax):

cd /dev
sh MAKEDEV sd1s{5,6,7,8} ## look into the script if i'm mistaken
mount -t dos /dev/sd1s5 /dos ## the "slice" number may vary

NB: be aware that the msdosfs may still cause some sort of unexpected
damage, even to your UFS partitions.
