That's what we suspect. If we move to FreeBSD and PPP still crashes
often, it may be the hardware failure. But first I should find another
OS with stable PPP to make sure this. 

But anyway, we will move the PPP service to a new terminal server; I guess
then our Linux box will be stable, with the heavy burden relieved.
