    They run fine, but they don't work?  Exsqueeze me?  Have you tried
actually starting an xterm or xclock or xbiff so the window manager
will have some windows to manage?  twm/vtwm/tvtwm/piewm/fvwm/ctwm all
work for me (ctwm being my current fave).
