It's quite frustrating. We have an old Compaq greyface (386/20) (courtesy
of Compaq) and it works just fine, but it was a "lab special" and hence 
may not be fully representative of all of Compaq's product line.  Now if 
Compaq would just send us an updated model, or better yet one of the new 
notebooks, we would finally be able to figure out what's going wrong...
