The answer is "yes" you can get gnu-ld to generate correct (byte-swapped) object
code for 386bsd from a SPARC.  When release 0.0 came out, I gathered together
the patches for gcc-2.0 and gnu-ld-1.94-beta.  The patches are (still) available
from tesla.ee.cornell.edu in pub/386bsd.

However, gnu-ld 2.0 was just released, and if patches are still necessary, they 
should be diffs from this version of ld.

I'm not going to get to this until after I have SL/IP running, which will probably
not be until next week (still waiting for the mailman to bring the modem).  If
someone else has the time to experiment with gnu-ld 2.0 and see if it works,
please let me know.
