I moved (quickly) from the Livingston Portmasters to Telebit NetBlazers.  I use the NetBlazers to do 
what you are wanting, and it works great.  The user enter's their userid & password to being a 
PPP/SLIP/CSLIP connection, or type shell to be telneted over to the BSDI machine.  If you're 
interested in Telebit products, they can be found at http://www.telebit.com
