    There is no /lib (nor /shlib, if you were wondering).  Both static
and shared libraries are in /usr/lib.  ld.so is in /usr/libexec.  Both
/usr/lib and /usr/libexec are part of the bindist tar ball.  Did you
note any errors during installation about incomplete files or a
truncated tar file?  If you /usr is on a separate filesystem, did you
remember to mount it?
