Hi

For those all, who think about using DAT with 2.0.5-RELEASE:

I'm using a HP C1533A DAT-drive, DDS-II, 4GB without any compression
up to 16GB with compression.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rst0 bs=64k (thousands of ^@ onto Tape)
write-performance: 2.8MB/s (50MB from /dev/zero, gzipped to 80k)

dd if=/dev/rsd0a of=/dev/rst0 bs=64k (normal binaries on filesystem)
write-performance: 880k/s

dd if=one_gzipped_file of=/dev/rst0 bs=64k
write-performance: 500k/s

And nice Jumps over many backups (3x200MB) to the beginning of
a tar-archive within 30s !!! REALLY nice. (mt -f /dev/nrst0 fsf 3)

Tomorrow i'll go and buy it and test it within a small network
of 4 nodes of FreeBSD with amanda.

:)
