Two possibilities:

1.	Get Palladium from Project Athena.  8-).  It might even work...

2.	Cheat.  You do this by providing multiple filters for the same printer.
	How do you do this?  Use a remote printcap definition that refers to
	*the local host*.  I currently use this for 300DPI/400DPI selection
	for a SparcPrinter.
