Unless your problem is in hardware (e.g. memory timing problems, cache
consistency problems), it's most likely that FreeBSD 2.0.5 will solve
the problems.

However, you only need to get a new kernel and give it a try.  While
many old binaries won't work with a new kernel (basically things like
IP routing have changed internal data structures), you can easily try
if the kernel would solve your troubles, and finally decide to get the
whole system (or not).
