Who, me?

Amanda is nice partly because it's built on top of dump, and the tapes it
generates can be pretty easily hand-hacked into individual dumps with a
minimum of fuss. You do need a rather larger tape than any partitions...
I wouldn't try to back up even a middling-sized disk (500M, say) to a 250M
tape with Amanda.

It's mostly a comprehensive system. It's not well suited to making archival
backups, or backups to small tape drives.
