I have an 486/33 is very responsive with X. Also, the performance
problems in a PC are related to non-accelarated svga chip-sets and
their 64k banking systems. For instance, the S3  is about 10 times
faster than your regular vga. 

Is MGR a networked windowing system ? And does it have a graphics API?
