Summary: Anyone had experience with Promise EIDE boards?

Hi,

I have a promise EIDE controller (2300 series I think???) and am having
trouble getting it to work under NetBSD 1.0 (6 patches applied).
This controller is a VESA/ISA card with 2 IDE ports, 16550's and support for
2.88mb floppy drives. I have a 486 DX2/66 with 16mb ram, with the only other
VESA slot being taken up by a Tseng ET4000w32i video card.

I can boot off the floppy drive (using 1.0's KCAHA) without problems. I can
mount the filesystems from the hard drive once at a single user shell. KCAHA
also recognises the floppy controller and the serial ports.

When trying to boot directly from the hard drive I get to the boot prompt
and a '|' vertical bar appears and just hangs at this point. I figure there
is some sort of conflict, but the default jumpered settings looked ok.

Thanks for any help,

Andrew Cassin
