I need help installing FreeBSD to a 1.2GB IDE drive. I don't have
LBA support but it was my understanding that this was not necessary
if I just treated my disk at haveing 1024 cyl 16 head 63 spt. Well
I have installed FreeBSD 2.0 sucessfully on a 213MB IDE drive so
I know that it is not a prob with the distrib. Also i have tried
the latest snap I could find (950412) and I have the same prob.

What happens is I got to install and the partition editor works
fine (fdisk) then I go to do my disk labeling and thatworks find
to. when I tell it to proceed with the installation I tries to
do a newfs on my first partition it bombs. and I dont know of any
way to break out of the install shell and do the stuff by hand.

I have tried to place the partion at the end of the disk as well
as complete with the first 500 MB and still no banana.

any info any one can provide me with would be appericiated.

thanks

sunil
