This post is a plea for help. We are trying to install NetBSD on a 486DX4 system
(Award BIOS) fitted with Soundblaster AWE32, Conner 1275 1.2gig drive + 2
floppy drives with a CDROM hooked up to the Soundblaster. We so far have made the
install disks from the ????10 archives. We have the kernel and the Install
FS disks written. When trying to install we get to the "point of no return" just
after all the disk parameters are specified - and the system reports
"wdc0: lost interrupt: error 0". We have tried different settings of the jumpers
on the IDE I/O card, and different settings in the system BIOS, but they all
return the same error. Intuition tells me to expect the HDD light to flicker
while the system is booting and listing all its devices, but the HDD light
never comes on while in any part of the installation process.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this lost interrupt message to
occur and how it may be rectified?

Help greatly appreciated - please email any reply as this news server sometimes
plays houdini on incoming news. Email to mkh2@aber.ac.uk or jac2@aber.ac.uk

Many thanks in anticipation you will save our hair.
