In article <ortegaD93zJI.BMI@netcom.com> ortega@netcom.com (John Ortega) writes:

 * We have had great luck with ppp connections on our system, but the popper
 * that came with 2.0 seems to be a problem. I seems to hang on lage files. I
 * have tried to compile popper, and pop3 from scratch, and got them both to
 * go (look out for the careless use of "inline" as a variable name in pop3).
 * However, both of them won't process password files. This might be from
 * the new MD5 stuff, but I don't know. So, can anyone tell me either what might
 * be wrong with the stock popper, or how I can get the others to use the
 * password file.

I belive this problem is fixed in the latest port of popper. Grab it
from FreeBSD-current/ports/mail/popper or packages/mail/qpop-2.1.4.2.tgz
and please let us know how it goes.

This is only a temporary fix, and according to one of our members, the
"proper" fix is already sent back to the popper for inclusion in the
next version.
