Summary: Will FreeBSD work on it?
Keywords: You're sick of hearing this question, I know...

Well, I looked at the FAQ's and systems lists that I could find.
I even called up Acer America to get the motherboard info. (They use
their own motherboards, *they're* not in the lists I could find, either.
The tech support person claims that the 4090 has a A1GX Acer motherboard,
and the 4790 has a V12LC. ????)

Obviously I am looking in the wrong place (-; Who's hiding the list I'm
looking for?

Seriously, has anyone tried to install FreeBSD on Acer platforms? Although
I can probably install it at the store, that may be a major endeavour,
esp. if we don't end up buying it when and if it doesn't install. The manager
at Best Buy seemed a little less than thrilled that I might want to do
something like that to one of his computers, but the tech support guys
didn't seem phazed. I may have to install it off of floppies, since none
of the models we're looking at come normally with SCSI CD-ROMs.

Thanks in advance for any help,
