As an old System V guy, I have been recently confronted with an lpr
situation and I'm confused.

I had initially been under the illusion that the command line
parameters for lpr were specified by RFC1179. This RFC certainly
specifies the values that are passed to lpd in the printjob datagrams;
but it now appears that the command-line parameters for lpr are
implementation-specific and have *no* necessary relation to the values
specified in RFC1179.

Is this correct? Are the parameter values specified anywhere?

Any info gratefully received ...
