on 386BSD 0.0new Emacs was happily running and forking to shells and
whatever you wanted. But since I installed 386BSD 0.1 I always get an
error like "Inferior process exited with error 1" or so. I recompiled
Emacs now from scratch, and it was still the same. The thing is, that
the M-x compile command does work correctly, but as soon as you call
an interactive subprocess like shell or prolog or lisp, it will end
with that message.

any help is greately appreciated,
regards
-Gunther

PS: I have enough ptys installed, since screen works without problems.
