Okay I can get FreeBSD 2.0R to boot most of the way but it stops at the npx0
probe. The whole system was working fine till the /bin/ directory and various
parts of /dev were destroyed yesterday. I have managed to get the fixit floppy
booted up and used the shell to recreate the /bin directory /dev directories
with some backups I had. However, even after I have put the /bin directory
back and created most of the /dev entries the kernel just locks up after the
npx0 probe upon booting. If I try to do a -s boot I never get asked about a
root shell.

If you must send email then please send it to matt@iag.org. Thanks for any
responses to this problem.
