Lucky,

As a neophyte FreeBSD user, I hesitate to respond. But,
there's enough Irish in me to go ahead and do it anyway.

My install pooped out after expanding bindist. So, I
rebooted, mounted the CDROM (mount_cd9660 /dev/mcd0a /mnt
worked for me), and went fishing for files on the CD.
I created a temporary directory under /usr and copied
a directory over there (like manpages), ran the checksum
program (do_cksum.sh), then changed extract.sh to
executeable (chmod 777 extract.sh) and executed it.

After doing a few directories this way, I stumbled across
something under the tools directory that looks like it'll do
this for you.
