Actually, all of the scuttlebutt on the doom newsgroups indicates that it 
was developed on NeXTstep, and then ported.  Somehow.  One of the most 
confirming factors was the fact that NeXTStep users would always have 
newer versions of the binaries that incorperated bug-fixes and speed-ups 
way before the rest of the world.
