Hi,

I'm trying to boot a Sun 3/110 over the net. The server is a PC running
FreeBSD 2.0 RELEASE; the sun 3/100 has no disk, no monitor and no
keyboard.

I created/edited the following files:

/etc/ethers:

# WD8013EP
# 00:00:c0:56:3d:29	nina
# Sun 3/110
08:00:20:00:2e:45	brave

/etc/bootbtab:

# bootptab file (domain=jester.gun.de)
#
.default:\
	 :hd=/usr/brave:bf=netbsd-gen:\
	 :ds=194.77.1.241:\
	 :ns=194.77.1.241:\
	 :sm=255.255.255.248:\
	 :gw=nina.jester.gun.de:\
	 :hn:to=-3600:

brave:ht=6:ha=080020002E45:tc=.default:

The server is nina.jester.gun.de, the sun should be brave.jester.gun.de.
It seemed that the sun recognices its name, but it won't boot.

I don't know very much about bootp, so if anybody has a good description
about configuring a diskless system, it would help me a lot.

If I start the sun and listen at the net-device via tcpdump, all I get
is the following:

rarp: who-is brave tell brave

But everything brave needs to know is in the /etc/bootptab...

Thanks in advance for any hints,

Michael
