Well, I rather had the impression Germans who own cars rather at the end
of the "pecking order" are quite used to having them ridiculed. It seems
to happen all the time.
In fact, lots of them seem to do it themselves. That may have to do with
the fact that they didn't choose their car for anything but price.
As to those who bought it back when the GDR was a separate nation, I very
much doubt that there are a lot of those left - and anyway, even in the
GDR, there were a lot of Trabbi jokes going around.
In short, I don't see why anybody should feel especially hurt by this
thread.
However, there's a different reason why _I_ dislike people who want to buy
cars just to shove them down a cliff - if you want to throw something
away, don't simply throw it into the environment. That's a crime, and one
that happens much too often already.
