: I guess that's one of the nice thing of having regulated phone service.

U.S. phone companies are regulated because they are not only government
sanctioned monopolies, they are government imposed. Municipalities and
other government entities have granted single right-of-way and single
telecommunications source for their citizens. About the only way out
of the non-competitive fiasco now imposed on the telecommunications
customer is the recent advances in wireless telecommunications. A real
choice in who you want as your telecommunications provider is finally
emerging. BTW: the worst-case scenario I see coming is governments leaving
the phone companies monopoly rights intact and de-regulating pricing.

: As for FAXing/Modems. Modems are being slowly phased out. People are
: already starting to switch to ISDN. And with ISDN 1-second dialing, it's no
: big bother to do PPP-on-demand type services. As for FAXes, well, use the
: ISDN FAXing interface. Don't know much about it, so I won't comment now.

So ISDN sales are exceeding/approaching modem sales?? Anyway, show me
commercially viable digital wireless and then I'll get excited.
