[makes 130 MB]
I've actually installed FreeBSD (1.1.5.1 though) on a 120 MB disk in
my notebook. This included:
15 MB swap (for 5 MB RAM)
a full binary system including the development stuff
the kernel source tree (~ 10 MB with one set of object files)
catman pages (gzip'ed)
XFree86 3.1, including development system (catman pages & libs),
excluding those binaries i never wish to use on a
640x480 LCD display
emacs, excluding the .el files where there are .elc files for
even some 10 MB free space :) (in addition to the 10 % per file system)
It required some squeezing (only catman pages, removed some .el files,
carefully selected the X binaries).
I don't have the figures around, but the X stuff might be some 20 MB,
emacs another 8 MB or so. 60 MB will be very tight anyway...

Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-)
