I am setting up a slip server on FreeBSD 2.0, and I actually got it to
work. Kind of.

I can do anything between the remote slip machine and the server, but
the remote machine can't work with any other host.

I read the FAQ and the newsgroup archives. The archives say that I must
recompile the kernel to forward packets. The FAQ says to use arp -s to
avoid this.

I used arp -s. When a do a traceroute from a remote machine, I am
getting the slipserver's MAC address, so I have narrowed the problem to
packet forwarding on the slip server.

I really don't want to recompile the kernel, as I have a small hard disk
and relatively slow machine. Additionally, if route doesn't work with
FreeBSD as shipped, why in the heck is my rc running routed?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and please email responses.
