I have just upgraded from NetBSD 0.9 to 1.0 (absolutely painless, and
seems a lot faster -- thanks, BSD-people!), partly to get PPP support
(I no longer have my nice leased line :-(). This works fine, _but_
doesn't dial on demand (unless I'm missing something). If I start it,
it'll talk to the modem, dial, and so on, and I have a link, but I
can't find a way of having it dial automagically when I try to
telnet out (or have a mail queue-run, or ...).

However, I seem to remember that the FreeBSD PPPD _does_ support
this. It isn't a big enough issue to change OS for, but I am willing
to try to port the FreeBSD PPPD to NetBSD (if it's not too much
trouble). Before I start on this, though, has anyone tried this,
and does it work? Can it definitely not be made to work? Any advice
will be appreciated.

I'd prefer replies by mail, 'cos my news seems to lose 60% of the
incoming stuff, but I _do_ read this group religiously. I'll summarise,
and if the port works, I;ll send the code to CGD and the boys.
