When I was in Berlin in '92. apparently the going price for a Trabi was
about 200DM (for one running, if not in (relatively) tip-top shape). I and
my friend with whom I was travelling nearly bought one just so that we
could drive a truly disposable car and push it off a cliff or something
when we were done with it, and then tell the story.

Then we realized we could tell the story without actually buying the car.
