I don't know if this is the 'approved' way to go, but simply downloading
the bindist and executing extract.sh installs OK. However, a small number
of snags to avoid:

1) Save interesting things out of /etc (eg. your password file, rc.local)
   as these will get overwritten.

2) If you don't run the Generic kernel, plan on building a new one
around the time of installing the bindist (ie. download the sys.??
out of the srcdist at the same time). Quite a lot of the networking
commands (route, pppd etc.) seem to be incompatible between 2.0-RELEASE
and the -SNAP releases. Just to make things more interesting, the
makefile in the -SNAP srcdist seems to require a newer version of
   'symorder' than is in 2.0-RELEASE.

3) Not quite clear how it happened, but I ended up with two sets of
   manpages - /usr/share/man/man1/xxxx.1 and /usr/share/man/man1/xxxx.1.gz
