I wanted to do the same thing, only in C. I ported the GNU gcc and
use the apollo as the base port. I did the same with the assembler (gas)
on my SVR4 system prior to switching to FreeBSD. I have a 68332 eval
board that I played around with. Oh yea, you have to get the binutils
package also for things like: ld, objdump, nm, ar, etc. With this,
you can produce (it produces for you should I say) the Motorola S-Record
format which is directly downloadable and ready to run. You also
need pcomm (with some minor changes). Ooops sorry. You just wanted
an assembler... Never mind.
