I guess you are looking for free/share equivalent of Lanalyzer/NMS (or
close to it).  Please post the summary of answers, if you get any.  I
think there are a lot of people that would be interested (whether it's
limited to one protocol or not, and regardless of whether it runs on
DOS, Linux, FreeBSD, or any easily available platform).
