Hmmmm... the latest boot disks are suffixed .941204 which is what I'm
using. The file creation dates are indeed Dec. 5, so that may be why
the confusion. I don't see any later disks for 2.0R in 
FTP.CDROM.COM:/FreeBSD/2.0-RELEASE/floppies/newer, so if anyone knows
where newer disks may be hidden let me know, OK? 
 
As for specifying the "link2" option... I'd be happy to just be able
to boot from the boot floppy. Until I can do that, I can't specify
diddely squat! ;v)
