Yes, except for the fact that using that 'real' print model you're
forced to buy an additional user licence for every printer. If you
have ninety people and 15 printers on your network, you have to buy a
250 user licence rather than a 100 user licence to get everyone and
everything connected if each printer acts as its own server. The price
difference between a 250 user and a 100 user version is quite
significant.

If you have anything other than the printer itself (or the interface
device, e.g., an Intel NetPort) you're back to using rprinter with its
timeouts, and there goes your Wonderful Job Concept.

Quite frankly, lpr strikes me as a much more wondeful concept. The
idea that I should have to log into a specific server just to use a
particlar printer is a pain. Being a small site, I could attach all 40
printers to each server, but what if I had 200 printers?
