I would certainly expect more than that from an NE2000. Over a year
ago I booted up two NE2K-equipped machines with NetBSD (a 486/33 and a
386/40) and did a large (entire NetBSD distribution) ftp transfer from
one to the other.  My average rate was around 600K/sec. I have no reason
to believe the card will not go faster, but my old IDE disk drives
wouldn't.
