Sorry, "name resoloution", not "routing" for this particular gripe.

And I defy you to get link-state routing on anything other than
Novell servers.  Plus it costs extra.  Plus you have to run both
unless you put it everywhere.

Lack of universality of IP is not one of it's problems.  If you want
to talk to the internet, you talk IP or you don't talk.

start backing DECNet, despite it refusing to follow the ethernet
standards regarding packet length.

The MAIN advantage of IP is universality.
