Hi:

I am currently deciding on a dialect of
UNIX to run on Pentium/PCI/SCSI machines
and have inevitably arrived at a choice
between LINUX and BSD. I would be grateful
for input on the following questions:

1) What is the difference between BSDI and
FreeBSD 1.1/2.0?

2) FreeBSD appears to be widely available
via FTP, CD ROM etc.. but where can I obtain
BSDI and is it shareware or commercial? If
the latter how much does it usually cost?

3) Any observations on the relative merits
of LINUX versus BSDI/FreeBSD 1.1/2.0,
particularly for Internet connectivity,
and hardware (PCI/SCSI/Ethernet/Video etc.)
support etc.?

I am from an SCO UNIX background and have
never ventured in to the realms of BSD before
so any and all observations would be most welcome.

Thanks very much.

Adrian Cooper.
