I suggest choosing inn. Then you have NNTP automatically.
As Newsreader you can easily use: rtin, xvnews, Netscape, ....
The config file for inn (FreeBSD) is on the freebsd cdrom
or look onto a ftp server (suggest ftp.freebsd.org).
